Nurses are of course a big part of the home and to find employment as a nurse will require that you are fully qualified and registered to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), some homes also require that you have three years’ work experience. The role of care assistant does not require any formal qualification to be hired and can lead to the nursing home supporting you through achieving a NVQ level 2 in health and social care, this can be a rewarding job for those with a passion for helping those less fortunate than themselves in terms of mental or physical health.

The role of a handyman in nursing homes employment is one that often comes up and can just as important as any other role in the home. A handyman will be permanently on site to make sure everything is running smooth and maintaining the property. Handymen are usually versatile in different trades such as plumbing and joinery and can find themselves involved in many tasks, from repairing broken furniture to fixing leaking pipes.

An important role in nursing homes employment is that of the resident chef, he will oversee the meals of both residents and staff which can be well over a hundred people. The chef must also make sure that the variety of meals caters to all residents and those that require specific dietary requirements are catered to accordingly.

Nursing homes employment opportunities also arise on a regular basis, for cleaners and maids. Cleanliness in nursing homes is massively important and homes are rated by regulators on how clean they are this makes the need for experienced cleaners a great one. Maids play a big part in making sure that all laundry is taken care off, this can include the washing and ironing of bedding along with residents’ clothing and tablecloths, working as a maid in a nursing home can be constant work.
